Sometimes it’s better to lip-synch. See Ringo forgetting the words to his own song while singing about sexual frustration and SHK (School of Hard Knocks).

Ringo Starr ~ Concert For BangladeshAugust 1, 1971 at Madison Square Garden

After proceeds from the concert were added to album sales, the ground-breaking concert generated over 5 million USD! Malheursement,  the governments of the U.S. and U.K. were typically governmental about getting the cash to those who needed it and years later very little of the money had gone to the relief effort.

The players at the concert were:

George Harrison: Guitars, vocals.
Eric Clapton: Guitars.
Bob Dylan: Guitar, harmonica, vocals.
Klaus Voormann: Bass guitar.
Leon Russell: Piano, bass guitar, vocals.
Ringo Starr: Drums, tambourine, vocals.
Ravi Shankar: Sitar, vocals.
Ali Akbar Khan: Sarod.
Alla Rakha: Tabla.
Kamala Chakravarty: Tamboura.
Don Preston: Guitar, vocals.
Jesse Ed Davis: Guitar .
Joey Molland: Guitar.
Tom Evans: Guitar.
Pete Ham: Guitar.
Carl Radle: Bass guitar.
Mike Gibbins: Percussion.
Jim Keltner: Drums.
Jim Horn: Horn.
Allan Beutler: Horn.
Chuck Findley: Horn.
Jackie Kelso: Horn.
Lou McCreary: Horn.
Ollie Mitchell: Horn.
Don Nix: Backing vocals.
Jo Green: Backing vocals.
Jeanie Greene: Backing vocals.
Marlin Greene: Backing vocals.
Dolores Hall: Backing vocals.
Claudia Linnear: Backing vocals.
and anybody else?…..oh yeah..Billy Preston: Keyboards, vocals .

John Lennon was going to be there but later declined because George wouldn’t let Yoko perform on stage.

One of my first 10 45s was Glad All Over by The Dave Clark 5. In Canada, it was released on Capitol Records, not Epic.
Here is, I guess my favourite DC5 hit from the era….Catch us if you Can

Apparently Michael Clarke can chew gum and play drums at the same time.

St Evie

May 11, 2007

“Little Stevie Wright” from the Australian 60’s group The Easybeats has had his ups and downs. In the 1970’s he had a smash hit in Australia ~ Eavie – parts 1, 2 and 3. Each part dealing with romance before, during and after.
The original by Stevie is impossible to find and any of his versions posted to Youtube are yanked Wright away.
So here is each part performed by The Wrights (sans Stevie), at a recent live concert – apparently the first time they have done all 3 parts together.
(It is a song unfamiliar to North American audiences but it should have been released here).

I preferred Derringer’s version of this to Winter’s. Here they are together in the fall of ‘73 – not bad.
