The Turtles had an armload of hits during the sixties but apparently didn’t benefit much financially due to swindling managers. Yes…the old swindling managers trick – the oldest trick in the book.

This parody of Big Bad John charted to #95 on Billboard in the summer of ‘69. I’m sure it charted quite high on the local Winnipeg Canada radio stations though, which is where I lived at that time.

I guess one of the local station managers or DJs must’ve liked it as much as I did.
