Lindley Magic

David Lindley and Jackson Browne. DL has worked with a lot of great musicians but you know what? He makes them even better. Oh yeah.

This Thing is Wild

September 21, 2008

I had the 45 and played it over and a over and a over again!

There is no truth to the rumour that the lead singer of the Troggs, Reg Ball, has had his neck replaced in order to make those head movements while performing this song today. And they still do perform it – I just saw them on Detroit Public TV.

Blinded By the Light

September 13, 2008

Bluesman, Blind Willie Mc Tell was famous for many reasons. He had a unique voice and played a ‘country blues’ style that he helped bring out of the American south and into our lives. He was part of the John Lomax ‘discovery’ sessions. Lomax was an American music historian who thankfully travelled about the southern U.S. recording musicians that had no means of doing so themselves, in a successful effort to preserve their musical styles and talents.

Blind Willie McTell – Lonesome Day Blues

YT post by cox1356

Blind Willie McTell was undoubtedly one of Bob Dylan’s best during his mid-career crisis. It was recorded in 1983 but Dylan decided to release Infedels without this classic appearing on it. It was finally released in 1991 on the Bootleg Series. Story link.

Everything is Black & White

September 12, 2008

My 45 of this 60s hit got played into submission. I had the above album which I loved (although I was only 12 and thought it was a bit strange). I also thought VF did the original version of Season of the Witch for the next couple of years.

Good Lovin’ was the first song I can remember that I played over and over that wasn’t on 45. I had a “Best of the Young Rascals” album aka Time Peace and this was the song I liked most by this New York band.
