Monty Trek

Two of the most popular television programmes of the era, Monty Python and Star Trek, are combined quite brilliantly by StarshipConductor, T. Jonesy & Killa for this gem of a video:

Will whomever literally ripped off my 3-D image from my “Their Satanic Majesties Reguest” album cover please return it. It went missing ’bout 1970. I won’t ask any questions. Thanks.

Just after the break up of the Mamas and the Papas, John Phillips had this un-hit single. Altough it was a hit at local radio station CFRW – The Big 1470 in Winnipeg, among others. Not sure how high it charted though.

Leonard Down

September 20, 2009

Leonard Cohen collapsed on stage in Spain last night.
He was released from hospital shortly after going in for observation. He’s just an amazing person!
I’m gonna post one of my favourite songs and performances by the man – a very interesting version of So Long – from the backwards audience to the violinist.
This one is always taken down quickly by YT so enjoy while it is there. And let’s wish LC all the best huh!

Bomb This

These are the kind of Bombers I like. And they’re the same type we use here. Music is Free Ride by The Edgar Winter Group. (That’s one of the songs from my “summer of sin” soundtrack.)

Please Redeem Me

Last night PBS had a special on Bob Marley. Wow – soooo good. Here is the fruit of dad’s loins, Ziggy with LH singing one of pop’s songs.

Lauryn Hill feat. Ziggy Marley – Redemption Song

Say what you want about people like Neil Young and Bob Dylan, but if they can make it through the music industry minefield for five decades and still have their ‘wits about them’ then they hold a special place in my heart.
Here’s an amazing YT post of Bob’s ‘first interview’ by former Winnipegger Oscar Brand in New York. Followed by former Winnipegger Neil Young’s recent return to his home town. Beautiful stuff!!
