Amp it up a notch
December 12, 2011
I was 8 or 9. We were at my neighbour’s cabin at the beach. It was a hot, sunny afternoon and we were just lazin’. We had been out fishing and had just pulled the boat onto the shore.
Suddenly, a storm brewed and roared right over top of us. One of my friends yelled out – “the boat’s blowing away! And sho ’nuff that boat was fifty feet out in the furious water and was on its way…somewhere.
So about 5 of us ran into the water, swam out and retrieved the (aluminum) boat and started to tow it back to shore.
Then it hit me. Literally. A bolt of lightning hit us or the water close by and we all got a big jolt – a big freakin’ jolt. Scared the crap outa me. Good thing we were chest deep in the water.
Someone was with us that day.
