Continuing with my triad of fiddle videos, here’s one from Manitoba. Manitoba is an interesting study of a great melange of fiddle tunes and styles coming together. The Scots, Irish and Québécois all brought their music with them as they converged on the area of what is now the keystone province. Over time, the music was shared and molded by the Métis and Annishinaabe people. The result was a hybrid of styles that previously had not met. Today, their descendants carry on the traditional playing.
