And then there were two….

As we have become aware, the ‘fifth Beatle’, Sir George Martin, passed away today. I’m not certain who the real genius was: “The boys”, George, or whatever forces conspired to bring them together. The results cannot be denied.

“A Day in the Life” was certainly one of SGM’s masterful works of production. The piece weaves together distinctively disparate parts providing the listener with a beginning, middle and end….woven like a great novel. Right down to the seemingly everlasting but finally terminating note. You must listen to it with a ’60’s ear, to realize the trail blazing components and appreciate the end result given the relatively modest production capabilities of the time. Quite brilliant.

All we can say is….thank-you.
