Cláirseach Twins

March 15, 2016

It may come as a surprise to some, but the cláirseach, or Celtic Harp, is the symbol of Ireland (not the shamrock, Blarney Stone, Cloch na Blarnan or shillelagh).

These twins from the “city by the shore” play the harp like you’ve never heard before: usually covering tunes from metal bands. (It is all too evident that their handlers like to emphasize the sister’s physical appearance but never-the-less it’s all about the harp.)

Here they play a song by the Finnish metal band, Nightwish, who rolled through town for a gig just two weeks ago. There are many Finns and fans in the area, especially as you head towards The Lakehead. There is a strong Celtic presence ’round these parts too and of course, this is Loreena McKennitt’s homeland.
