Above: The old CN (now VIA) Union Station. It has a beautiful dome above the grand entrance shown above. Apparently this is a railway town huh? And the place was bound for glory …. until the Panama Canal was built (or so the story goes).

This Train (is bound for glory) is an old southern gospel song from the 1920’s.

Here is a ‘group of groups’ playing the song before heading off on the train to glory….or New Orleans.

This Train (Is Bound For Glory) – Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe & the Magnet Zeros – The Old Crow Medicine Show

yt post by André Camargo

The song is a classic old tune that is another great jam song…as you can see in the video. Especially if you have some New Orleans horns ready to rip it up…..accordion solo.

Here’s a good instructional piece from The Acoustic Music Archive (link).

And of course, Sister Rosetta Tharpe also recorded it and here she is doing a beautiful, lyrically improvised version with her Gibson SG electric guitar, evidently performing in front of a hall filled with accountants and bookkeepers…by joantgv1
