On My Way Back Home

Forty years ago, two friends and I drove across the Canadian Shield. It was a trip I had made many times before, but always with my parents, or parents of friends. This time it was just the three of us. And the exuberance of youth, freedom and some of my favourite scenery combined to make it one of my most memorable experiences. We were Voyageurs, heading into the great unknown. I love that country.

This song sticks out in my mind more than any of the others from that time. Especially some parts of the lyrics.
