Home For Seasons
October 2, 2016
Seine River as it is today in the warm autumn sunshine.
These days the seasons seem to come and go faster than a speeding bullet.
In keeping with the seasonal home presentations I find myself immersed in, we have the local band Red Moon Road, performing primarily on the Red River ice skating trail. Skating on that trail of river ice is on the short list of things one must do while in Canada (the colder the better – for bragging rights). Yes Virginia, winter will be here soon enough.

And if you’re really lucky you can skate on one of Canada’s lakes, frozen but snow free after a melt or late start to snowy winter. Like it was here last December when the video below was shot on High Lake just east of the city in the Whiteshell. You might recognise Daniel Péloquin-Hopfner skating around (the mandolin player from Red Moon Road).
Real ice skating on a snow free lake in the Canadian Shield – doesn’t get any better than that!
