Above: at The Forks. This is a quote from the link below (Four Directions Teachings.com). It is very relevant: “The poles teach us that no matter what version of the Great Spirit we believe in, we still go to the same Creator from those many directions and belief systems; we just have different journeys to get there. And where the poles come out together at the top, it’s like they’re creating a nest. And they also resemble a bird with its wings up when it comes to land, and that’s another teaching: the spirit coming to land, holding its wings up.”

Each pole represents something to indigenous peoples: Obedience, respect, humility, happiness, love, faith, kinship, cleanliness, sharing, strength, children, hope, protection. The beauty is they inspire teachings and consequently…knowledge. Find out more at this link.
The strength I’m referring to is a combination of all the characteristics above, including physical strength. It is something you have to work at and, unlike physical strength, we often completely ignore the need to work on our inner and mental strength. When we encounter difficult situations its often too late and we find that there’s nothing there. We harbor racist phobias that reveal themselves in ‘difficult’ times. We point fingers. We treat others with disdain. We believe we are better. We build walls, throw stones and destroy others.

Fear. Why are we seeing so many display hate so strongly and why are there more politicians and others riding that alt-right rage? Fear. And superfluous fear is a sign of lack of strength. And fear is used as control.
We (non-indigenous) have been reacting with insufficient ‘inner strength’ for thousands of years. When that negative reaction to a triggering event stops,…then we will have taken that next, important evolutionary step.
Hate was on full display when a weak person walked into a Charleston church and murdered people in their hour of worship. A lot of hate was focussed on the killer. Hate was even directed towards the victims. But strength beyond belief was exhibited by some of the people related to the mass shooting. They forgave the person who pulled the trigger.

Again, we saw hate last night at a mosque in la Ville de Québec.
Strength helps us overcome.
On a besoin de plus d’abattage. C’est necessaire pour tout le monde. Tout le monde entier.

Time to cultivate inner strength and a strong spirit. Sohkahcahkwewin (Cree). Get to work.

When I was going through some tough times, this song meant more to me than it did to others. Today, we need a little reminder.

Can you imagine going into a studio full of disparate players and numerous instruments, and pulling this off in a single take like they did here? Working together, not against each other. Its a beautiful thing (baby).

“Feelin’ Stronger Every Day” lyrics from A-ZLyrics.com

I do believe in you
And I know you believe in me
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
And now we realize
Love’s not all that it’s supposed to be
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I’m feelin’ stronger every day
I know we really tried
Together we had love inside
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
So now the time has come
For both of us to live on the run
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I’m feelin’ stronger every day
Yeah, yeah, yeah
After what you’ve meant to me
Ooh baby now
I can make it easily
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I know that we both agree
Best thing to happen to you
The worst thing that happened to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Feelin’ stronger every day
Feelin’ stronger every day
Feelin’ stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feelin stronger every day
(You know I’m alright now)
Feeling stronger every day
